NAT10970001 Experience NLP Fundamentals

This seminar fulfils the requirements for the first unit of the 10970NAT Graduate Certificate in Neuro-Linguistic Programming.

Discover the New Code of NLP

Discover an advanced form of NLP and find out how this technology can be applied to make a real difference in your performance, your learning and your ability to create what you want in your life. How would you like to experience a form of NLP that you can apply naturally and effortlessly into most areas of your life? Dr. John Grinder the co-originator of Neuro-Linguistic Programming has reorganised and extended the original (known as the classic code) into a new form that is simple to learn, is simple to use with yourself, and is simple to apply in your personal and professional life. This new streamlined form of NLP is known as the new code and represents the greatest advance in NLP since its inception in the mid-nineteen seventies.

John Grinder and the New Code of NLP

Dr. John Grinder, the co-creator of Neuro-Linguistic Programming, has continued to develop new models of human excellence. Over the years he has completed a number of reviews of the current state of NLP and has noted that very few new patterns and models have arisen in the NLP community. As a result of those reviews he began a process of re-coding NLP. The first re-code was in the mid 80’s when he and then partner Judith DeLozier produced the new code of Neuro-Linguistic Programming. The first seminar to offer the New Code overtly, is documented in the book “Turtles All the Way Down; Prerequisites to Personal Genius”.

In the late 1990’s Grinder and his current partner Carmen Bostic St Clair refined their work and produced the book “Whispering in the Wind”. The new code of NLP corrects the flaws that John identified in the classic code of NLP, the typical form in which NLP is taught in most of the NLP community. The new code is typified by attention to self-application of NLP patterns and models, consideration of likely costs and benefits attached to outcomes, the development of high performance states and the separation of NLP training from NLP modelling and the application of NLP models.

You will Learn to:

  • Develop rapport with others in multiple ways including use of your state
  • Develop skills in influencing your own and others experience
Create new perspectives on situations and conversations with others
  • Appreciate situations from different points of view
  • Take triple descriptions and apply them to managing our own state, editing your own experience and enhancing your relationships
  • How you represent and change your and other people’s experience in the world
  • Explore develop and utilise the vestibular representational system in NLP
  • Experience differences between people’s thinking at first hand
  • Design, develop and apply high performance states
  • Track and influence others’ states and communication with ecology
  • Elicit and stabilise resourceful states from your personal history
  • Elicit and stabilise states and behaviour in other people
  • Frame intention and consequences for personal ecology
  • Develop awareness and appreciation of the varied ways people make meaning of their experience, thereby expanding your choices and opportunities to influence

What is the New Code of NLP?

The New Code of Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) is a fundamental reorganisation and recoding of neuro-linguistic programming. It focuses on the interface between conscious attention, the cognitive unconscious and the manipulation of state towards excellence.

In the New Code (as opposed to the original classic code), NLP co-originator john grinder has outlined and described the distinction between NLP as a model making endeavour and NLP as an application. This distinction ensures practitioners fully understand how to apply NLP patterns to their personal lives while also helping others apply it to their own lives.

This New Code has come about as a result of grinder realising many brilliant practitioners were adept at helping others apply NLP patterns to their lives to achieve deep sustainable change, but for various reasons failed to adequately apply it for optimal benefit to their own lives. Hence the focus of the new code on self-application of NLP patterning and appreciation of the difference between form and content.

Effectively the New Code promotes unconscious competence, which may be followed by conscious appreciation. The balance between the conscious and unconscious minds is paramount and this is known as the conscious / unconscious interface.

The New Code focuses on the detection and utilisation of patterns in the world, with an emphasis on the patterns themselves. A person trained in the new code often creates a process spontaneously in response to a particular context.

In the New Code, participants explore psycho-physiological states. They learn to recognise, record and change states. They learn where and how attention is accorded and how that relates to state, perceptual position and context.

Ultimately, the New Code offers a system for learning NLP that fosters the development of systemic wisdom in the practitioner as well as the participant.

About this certification program of learning

In this foundation program in the new code of NLP, participants will learn to engage with others in multiple ways, by choice. The ability to create and maintain rapport is essential for effective and influential communication with others.

During this program you will discover the benefits of managing your own and influencing other people’s states of mind. You will learn how to access useful states, how to stabilise them and set cues to reactivate them in desirable situations, times and places. Known as state management, this essential skill can make a profound difference in how you live your life positively. You will also learn how to recognise and elicit states and behaviour in other people and how to attach cues to another’s state. This is called anchoring and you can influence the reactivation of an anchored state in another. Do you experience choice in how you respond, rather than just reacting to cues in the environment? This is another important foundation for living successfully and creatively in your world. We shall cover specific NLP patterns on this program for breaking the cues that trigger unwanted reactions so that your interactions with others become a place of choice and resourcefulness.

It important and useful to have effective ways of thinking about what you want and what you want that for. Having specific tried and tested NLP patterns for representing desired outcomes and organising required resources can make a significant difference in having your desires in life fulfilled.

Award

In addition to the useful learning’s you will gain, satisfactory completion of this program will earn you a unit of competency for the Graduate Certificate in Neuro-Linguistic Programming.

Pathways through the 10970NAT Graduate Certificate in NLP

These topics provide the essential elements that underpin the whole of the rest of the NLP syllabus. For example, if you cannot engage and hold someone else’s attention, they will not respond to your next comment. If you cannot see and hear minimal non-verbal cues, you will not know when to say or do something else and if you don’t establish an idea of what someone wants, how could they or you know what questions to ask? You will be able to engage and direct others’ attention, discover what you want, see, hear and respond to minimal non-verbal cues and make appropriate changes from high quality information. You will be able to assist others to make changes as well as changing yourself. In future, you can build on these foundational skills with additional units from Part 1 of the Graduate Certificate in NLP. This course is the starting point for the whole Graduate Certificate in NLP and enables you to progress through Part 1 in any order you prefer.
