Assessment Processes

Informal assessment is an ongoing process throughout the program with a view to providing personal tasks and coaching to enable participants to acquire a full range of competencies.

Formal practical assessment is conducted over two days of revision and coached practice at the end of the first five units and again at the end of all nine units.

There is a written assignment to complete after each of the two practical components. Participants have three months to complete each written assignment and may draw on any resources they find useful to assist them.

Other assessment instruments include a modelling project for all participants to be completed within three months of the end of the complete program, and individual tasks or projects to assist participants gain specific competencies

The assessment methods will include a range from the following:

  • practical application and demonstration of skills
  • oral presentation
  • written assignments / tests / projects
  • portfolio development and presentations
  • work-based projects
  • action research projects
  • case studies
